Hi, hello and welcome!
I guess I should start with a little introduction about who I am and why I am writing this blog.
Being a young lass on the cusp of turning 30 I have had a life full of strife, excitement, celebration and tragedy. Many say that I have experienced more in this world than most which is both a blessing and a curse but either way I try to see the positive when I can.
Originally I intended this blog to be used for only my travelling journal but I have since decided to use it to record not only my physical journeys to other places but also my mental, emotional and spiritual journeys.
Let’s start with the physical. I am an avid traveller, I can’t stay in any one place for too long without getting itchy feet and as soon as I had the money to do so, I have been out there visiting different countries in this world. From Crete to Prague, Berlin to Paris, I have loved every moment of it. I used to have a travel journal as a child but fell out of the habit as I got older and went through several years of no travel at all. Now that I am back on the case, I want to use this space to record my travels, my memories, friends made, experiences had and all that.
One of the main things I will be using this space for is to detail my plans for something I have wanted to do my whole life. A round the world trip! Now, I am not the highest earner and currently have minuscule savings, so this really will be a planning exercise from ground zero. I am very interested in looking back at this blog one day and hope to be able to say ‘I did that’.
My mental, emotional and spiritual journey will be a little more complex. Having suffered from a myriad of mental illnesses for over a decade, coupled with a fascination for psychology, I have decided to start recording any therapies, medications and alternative remedies that I have or will be trying to help with my own illnesses, in a way to not only help myself but also help others suffering with the same things. I hope that by sharing my struggles I can help to lift some of the stigma that surrounds people that live with mental disorders as well as prove to those of you out there suffering in the same way, that there is hope, you can do this. I have reached the stage now where I can be mostly objective to the causes of my own disorders and hope to give both a support network to fellow sufferers and also an insight into our minds for family and friends and curious individuals who may not understand the struggles we go through.
I look forward to seeing you all on my blog! 🙂
